Q32 Bio's Bempikibart Regrows Hair in Tough Alopecia Cases
Q32 Bio reported 36-week Phase 2a data showing its antibody bempikibart drove meaningful hair regrowth in patients with severe alopecia areata.
Q32 Bio drew fresh attention after the clinical-stage immunology company posted encouraging long-term data in one of dermatology's most stubborn conditions. Q32 Bio (NASDAQ: QTTB) develops antibody therapies aimed at restoring immune balance, with its lead candidate bempikibart targeting the IL-7 and TSLP pathways that drive autoimmune disease.
On July 13, 2026, the company reported 36-week topline results from Part B of its Phase 2a SIGNAL-AA trial in 33 patients with severe or very severe alopecia areata, a group that included patients who had already failed JAK inhibitors. Bempikibart delivered a mean 35.3% reduction in SALT score in the modified intent-to-treat population, with 40.0% of patients achieving SALT-20 and 44.0% reaching SALT-30 and SALT-50 by Week 36. The company also flagged early signs of durable off-drug responses, including one patient with complete hair regrowth, and reported no treatment-related serious or Grade 3 adverse events. Management plans to launch a registration-directed program in the first half of 2027.
Phase 2a results in a small cohort may not replicate in larger, controlled trials. This is market commentary, not investment advice — small-cap biotech stocks are highly speculative and you can lose your entire investment.
