Arcutis Wins Expanded FDA Approval for ZORYVE in Young Children
The FDA approved Arcutis' supplemental application to expand ZORYVE cream 0.3% for plaque psoriasis to children as young as age 2, broadening the product's eligible patient population.
Arcutis Biotherapeutics moved back into focus after the FDA approved an expanded label for its flagship product, ZORYVE cream.
Arcutis is a commercial-stage dermatology company built around roflumilast, a topical treatment sold under the ZORYVE brand for inflammatory skin conditions. Growing that franchise depends on widening the range of patients who can be prescribed the drug.
The latest approval does exactly that. The FDA cleared a supplemental New Drug Application for ZORYVE cream 0.3% to treat plaque psoriasis in children as young as age 2, extending an indication that previously began in older patients. Arcutis says ZORYVE is the first once-daily, non-steroidal therapy approved for plaque psoriasis in children this young, and that it can be applied anywhere on the body with no restrictions on how long it is used — features that matter to parents wary of long-term steroid exposure. The pediatric clearance adds a new, underserved population to a product already central to the company's revenue.
