Pharmaceuticals are synthetically prepared chemicals or drugs used to treat, prevent, and cure diseases. Pharmaceutical companies may produce either generic or brand medications and medical devices. Although pharmaceuticals show effects relatively faster compared to natural medications, they usually have side effects associated with them upon consumption.
One of the side effects of pharmaceuticals such as opioids is addiction. Due to their addictive nature, they may lead to physical dependence and withdrawal symptoms. Pharmaceutical medications are also known to be exploited as recreational drugs which are illegal as they are not consumed for treatment or healing.
